CJ Graphics Becomes First to Acquire Fully-Loaded Xerox iGen 5 Presses

TORONTO – September 25, 2017 – CJ Graphics Inc., one of Canada’s leading-edge graphic arts companies, is taking digital printing to the next level with the first installation, globally, of fully-loaded Xerox iGen 5 digital presses.

Mandarino says the new iGen 5 press works at production speed, delivering advantages such as more design flexibility, increased efficiency for faster time-to-market.

Today, thousands of iGen presses are creating billions of high-quality, high-margin sales brochures, posters, photo books, packaging and pieces of direct mail – often personalized and always vibrant in color. The Xerox iGen 5 Press is built to serve the changing world of print and aims to help print shops seize market opportunities through automation, integrated print workflows, a fifth color station and the option to swap in White Dry Ink for specialty effects. In addition, CJ Graphics Inc. has also acquired an Epic coater CTi-635 in-line coating system equipped with a C.P. Bourg BSFE-x Sheet Feeder. This new technology will allow for spot and overall Aqueous and UV coatings.

A Revolutionary Solution

To help augment declining book printing sales, a large national graphic arts organization recently purchased a smaller printer that specialized in producing paint can labels. Once the graphic arts firm took over, they recognized that producing the short-run paint can labels on offset technology was too inefficient and as a result the profit margins were suffering. They therefore made a strategic decision to move to digital, which didn’t come without some fundamental challenges—the first of which being creating labels with exact color and substrate match as offset.

Xerox convinced the customer that the paint can labels could be produced on digital technology, and provided print samples on the right stocks with exact matching colors to prove it.
