EPIC CoatTech™ Anilox Coating System
For: Existing Tower Coaters or Retractable Blanket Coaters

The EPIC CoatTech™ System allows the application pr pigmented coatings, such as pearl, metallic, and dull coatings, all of which are difficult to apply with a roller coater. The anilox roller is driven by a servo drive that is speed tracked to the press via an encoder and pic control system.

The advantage of EPIC's precision servo drive, is that some of the flexibility of a roller coater is retained, as the anilox can be reduced in speed in relation to the blanket cylinder. The result is savings in coating and the need to purchase fewer anilox rollers to accomplish a wide range of work.

The system is supplied with a unique "chamber in a chamber" doctor blade assembly that prevents coating leaks into the press. The quick release makes clean up fast and efficient, and doctor blades and end seals can be changed in minutes, without tools. Training and technical support for EPIC is also part of the package.

EPIC CoatTech™ System Features Include:

Enclosed fountain with doctor blades and quick release system for fast clean-up

Laser Engraved, lightweight carbon fiber Anilox roller provided as applicator to blanket, cell size to customer's specifications

Anilox roller is easily removed to accommodate coating changes

All necessary brackets, side frames, etc. to geometrically locate and hold the coater in place on the press

Operator's control station with necessary selector switches and controls

Manual Mode — Operator controls Anilox roller to blanket cylinder

Automatic Mode — The Anilox roller will activate when the printing unit goes on pressure

Integrated Coating Pump Console — All pump and wash up functions are located in a single freestanding enclosure for ease of operation. (Suitable for UV or water based coating.)

How it Works

  • Coating flows into the chamber from the CoatTech Circulator.
  • Coating is metered to the anilox roller from the chamber.
  • Coating transfers to the blanket from the anilox roller.
