The advanced Epic PLA2S is a proven system which can simultaneously apply the same or different coatings to both sides of the web. When compared to the installation of two separate coaters, the PLA2S costs less and takes up less space. The PLA2S can be provided as shown, or with a horizontal web path arrangement.

The Epic PLA provides accurate and dependable performance in traditional, single sided coating applications. The PLA allows close regulation of material application while maintaining a constant coat weight regardless of speed. Varying web widths can be run without edge buildup. The PLA is designed for web following and automatic startup and shutdown. All PLA coaters can be used with forward or reverse roll coatings as dictated by the coating or product requirements.

The Epic PLA is ideally suited for use in controlling web curl under demanding paper and broad processing conditions. The PLA decurls the web through the controlled penetration of water into the sheet. This close tolerance addition of moisture relaxes the sheet, eliminating curl to create a consistently flat surface. Since the moisture has been driven into the fibers of the sheet (as opposed to the surface application of moisture, which depends on absorption), the PLA produces virtually no surface moisture. The Epic PLA can apply moisture to virtually any paper or board, accurately and reliably at full production speeds.
